Camp Vet - Spring Break
* We now offer advanced curriculum classes for ages 15-17
The Arizona Animal Welfare League and SPCA’s Camp Vet is a hands-on camp for 12–17 year olds. This will be the inaugural year for the camp, which will be held for two weeks each summer, designed to offer active learning opportunities for middle school age children considering a career in animal medicine.
This career discovery program will introduce campers to a wide variety of animals and the care that they require, while learning what it takes to become a veterinarian. We want Campers to experience real-life medicine including:
Observing surgeries in our veterinary clinic
Dissecting organs
Learning anatomy
Viewing specimens under microscopes
Practicing hands-on pet first aid
Exploring how animal diseases can be very different than those that effect humans
It is our responsibility to educate today’s youth while encouraging them to develop a love and willingness to take action for animals in need. Through this hands-on program, we hope to expose them to a side of animal medicine that they may not normally experience and foster an interest in a rewarding career. We want these future animal caregivers to walk away with an experience they will not forget!
